Question: if we have this Star Wars night, would people prefer to watch the good old original versions, or mock the ones Lucas messed around with and/or what there is of the new trilogy?

I've never witnessed the crazy fun that are these Star Wars movies, but even I know that the new ones are punished by death if spoken about or seen.

You either? I was beginning to think I was the only one in the whole world who'd never seen them.

[identity profile] x-foliate.livejournal.com 2004-09-26 06:22 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not big on pop culture. Some people seem to think it's pathetic/endearing, but really, I just never expected something along the lines of, "Who is Luke's father?" or "What is the Orange Ninja Turtle's Name?" to come up in any of my classes.

[identity profile] x-polarisstar.livejournal.com 2004-09-26 06:26 pm (UTC)(link)
I actually know the answers to both of those. But it's just a pop culture thing and not actually having seen it. Like knowing how James Bond likes his martinis.

[identity profile] x-foliate.livejournal.com 2004-09-26 06:47 pm (UTC)(link)
I can Google them. That's good enough for me.

Darth Vader, Michaelangelo, and shaken, not stirred.

Ask me some hard ones. ;-)

Hey, I know better than to get into a battle I can not win.

[identity profile] x-polarisstar.livejournal.com 2004-09-26 07:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Phrase on the wall of Alan's cubicle in Tron. (God, how geeky do I feel asking that question and knowing the answer?)

Gort Klaatu Barada Nikto.

Do you know what it means?

[identity profile] x-polarisstar.livejournal.com 2004-09-26 08:11 pm (UTC)(link)
It allows you to pick up the right Necrinomicon?

(Something from an old sci-fi film right? With a big robot and people coming back from the almost dead because actual dead would have set off the religious censors?)

[identity profile] x-reyes.livejournal.com 2004-09-26 06:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Whoa. And I thought I was a social leper.

[identity profile] x-polarisstar.livejournal.com 2004-09-26 06:38 pm (UTC)(link)
I prefer to think of it as not have joined in a particular segment of geek culture.

[identity profile] x-cypher.livejournal.com 2004-09-26 07:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Hey, I resemble that remark. ;-)

[identity profile] x-crowdofone.livejournal.com 2004-09-26 07:43 pm (UTC)(link)
There's a joke I could make here that would be amazingly wrong, but Angie tends to have a brain spasm when I make sex jokes, so for her sake I will refrain. :)

[identity profile] x-polarisstar.livejournal.com 2004-09-26 07:44 pm (UTC)(link)
That's okay, because my brain went there without you actually saying it. I need to go scrub it out with bleach now.

[identity profile] x-crowdofone.livejournal.com 2004-09-26 07:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Don't forget to tumble dry.

[identity profile] x-polarisstar.livejournal.com 2004-09-26 07:52 pm (UTC)(link)
See, now everything you say sounds wrong to me. It's destroying my brain. Where is my boyfriend? He'll save me.

[identity profile] x-crowdofone.livejournal.com 2004-09-26 07:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Now that's what I like to hear. Both halves. :)

[identity profile] x-polarisstar.livejournal.com 2004-09-26 07:57 pm (UTC)(link)
You like to hear that things are destroying my brain? Some friend you are!

[identity profile] x-crowdofone.livejournal.com 2004-09-26 08:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, jokes of mine in particular, I meant. Brains destroyed is like extra points in the game of comedy.

[identity profile] x-polarisstar.livejournal.com 2004-09-26 08:12 pm (UTC)(link)
It wasn't so much your joke as it was bad thoughts about Doug. Some things should never be thought. At least not by me.

[identity profile] x-crowdofone.livejournal.com 2004-09-26 08:13 pm (UTC)(link)
See below. Am suddenly very much with you there. :)

[identity profile] x-polarisstar.livejournal.com 2004-09-26 08:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Ha! Good. It's perfectly okay for Angie to have bad thoughts but very much not for me.

...

[identity profile] x-tarot.livejournal.com 2004-09-26 08:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Please. Make the joke. I am curious.

I have brain spasms all the time. I can handle one more.

Re: ...

[identity profile] x-crowdofone.livejournal.com 2004-09-26 08:03 pm (UTC)(link)
OK.

"Lorna, shouldn't you really be asking Angie if the geek fits?"

...

[identity profile] x-tarot.livejournal.com 2004-09-26 08:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Like a hand in a glove, Jamie. ;)

Re: ...

[identity profile] x-crowdofone.livejournal.com 2004-09-26 08:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Now I'm having brain spasms. Drat you and your checkmating ways.

Re: ...

[identity profile] x-tarot.livejournal.com 2004-09-26 08:07 pm (UTC)(link)
You asked! If you did not want an answer, you should not have asked!

Re: ...

[identity profile] x-crowdofone.livejournal.com 2004-09-26 08:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Can't talk. Spasming.

Re: ...

[identity profile] x-kitten.livejournal.com 2004-09-26 09:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Angie! No breaking my boyfriend!

That`s my job.

Re: ...

[identity profile] x-tarot.livejournal.com 2004-09-27 04:11 am (UTC)(link)
Well go to that then. :) If you broke him more often, he would realize that asking questions like that is only going to give him brain spasms.
