I wanted to bring people's attention to a petition on Change.org that kind of impacts us. Not directly, but it would be a horrible precedent to set in terms of mutant health care.
There's a bill progressing through the Pennsylvania State Legislature that would allow medical personnel to refuse to treat mutants based on "freedom of religion". It came out of the Pennsylvania College of Health Sciences discussing obligatory mutant-specific medicine classes for medical professionals, not just the week of human-variant medicine they get right now. There were also requests from doctors and emergency personnel for extra funding for mutant-specific equipment. All good, right? Except the anti-mutant bigots came out in droves to protest against "unfair treatment" and some jerk politician decided to curry favor with them and started this bill. Which is getting way more traction than it should.
So, there's the petition to strike the bill down. I'd really appreciate it if people would go and take a look at it and make an informed choice to sign. And send it to all your non-bigoted friends and family. I know it's not much, but it's something. There's also the possibility of protests as well as media campaigns and boycotts if it goes any further.
Posting to xp_journal as this is part of a plot and I'd like to use a plot tag...

Date: 2024-09-06 10:43 pm (UTC)It seems to me that the types of people asking for this bill went into the medical profession because they like having power over people, not because they want to help them.

Date: 2024-09-07 12:06 pm (UTC)Who gives a shit about their religious bullshit when they can already refuse to treat mutants because sometimes we explode or whatever?
This shit is why you can't trust humans because they'll still be on team "yes, fine, they can't religious ban us, but what if you gamma radiate me into cancer instead ? Better no."

Date: 2024-09-07 12:24 pm (UTC)What do you expect off religious people? Of course those cunts hate us. Anyone who decides that they don't want responsibility on their life because some sky fairy says that they'll go hate the right people is gonna sign up for that shit.
Every fucking religious group out there hates us, so you know for a fact that anyone who believes in God or whatever is one step away from this shit and even if they're actively campaigning for it, they're one step away from it and tolerate those bigots.
